1974 MG MGB GT 1.8 - Overdrive

With us here at RFH Classics we are delighted to offer this exceptionally well presented 1974 (M) MGB GT 1.8 finished in the highly distinctive and rarely found shade of Aconite which is complemented by the desirable V8-style Alloy Wheels. More commonly associated with the later MGB GT V8, Aconite is one of the most striking colours offered during MGB production and suits the elegant Pininfarina-designed lines of the GT particularly well. Prior to being offered for sale, the car has just benefited from a substantial programme of refurbishment and improvement.

Determined to present the car to the standard it deserved, extensive work has been undertaken including replacement of the majority of the front and rear suspension springs and bushes, a complete repaint of the exterior and door shuts, refurbishment of the period correct interior, alloy wheels and engine bay. The result is a car that now presents exceptionally well throughout and is ready to be enjoyed immediately by its next owner. Under the bonnet sits the proven 1798cc lead free four cylinder petrol engine which starts readily with minimal choke and displays excellent cold and hot oil pressure.

The engine is paired to the four speed manual gearbox with fully operational Overdrive on both third and fourth gears helping to provide a relaxed cruising and driving experience. Inside, the cabin is trimmed in the attractive period black striped cloth upholstery which remains in excellent condition and is complemented by well presented carpets, door cards and interior trim. The cockpit retains a wonderfully original feel whilst offering a clean and comfortable environment from which to enjoy this classic British sports coupe.

Introduced in 1965, the MGB GT successfully combined the sporting characteristics of the MGB Roadster with the practicality of a stylish fixed-head coupe. Accompanying the car is a comprehensive history file containing a substantial collection of invoices, receipts and supporting documentation dating back to 1989 and includes details of the extensive three year restoration programme carried out between 1992 and 1995 and supported by a selection of photographs.
