Description

The bike specialists, trading standards award winners. Bike ID:#10683 Here we have for sale our immaculate 1976 Suzuki GT750 "kettle". This beautiful water-cooled, three cylinder two stroke example finished in the Candy Gypsy Red paint scheme is in outstanding condition and must be the best example currently available for sale in the UK.

It has covered 6,866 miles since having been fully restored complete with full engine rebuild included crankshaft and gearbox bearings. The bike was originally sold in 1976 in Denmark before being brought to the UK in 2010 where it was then registered here with an age related UK number plate. Included in the package are two keys and a file full of original Danish paperwork, UK invoices and photographs charting the bike restoration and engine rebuild and old MOT certificates.

This bike really is a credit to its previous owners and will receive a full service and fresh MOT prior to sale. These models were the first Japanese water-cooled motorcycles and are becoming very hard to find especially in such stunning condition as our example. This bike does really need to be seen to be fully appreciated.

All in all a stunning blast from the past ideal for those Sunny Sunday afternoons but also a great addition and investment piece for any serious collection. Positioned as an engaging hot-hatch alternative, it appeals to drivers seeking an affordable yet spirited daily driver with a focus on driver involvement. In the UK market, the GT carved out a niche for those desiring a practical car that doesn't compromise on thrills, building on Suzuki's reputation for reliability and value.

Why Buy a Used Suzuki GT?

  • Affordable Performance: Experience genuine driving excitement and nimble handling without the premium price tag of many rivals.
  • Suzuki Reliability: Benefit from Suzuki's reputation for robust engineering, leading to dependable ownership and lower maintenance worries.
  • Engaging Driving Experience: Its lightweight chassis and responsive powertrain deliver an incredibly agile and rewarding drive, perfect for B-roads and cityscapes.
  • Practical Fun: Offers enough interior space and boot capacity for everyday errands, making it a versatile choice for both commuting and weekend adventures.

Typical Price Range

All prices are approximate and subject to change based on condition, mileage, specification, and market conditions.

  • 2015–2018: £7,500 – £10,500 — Early models offering great value for a fun, compact car, though higher mileage is more likely.
  • 2019–2021: £11,000 – £14,500 — Mid-life examples, potentially featuring updated infotainment and more modern safety features.
  • 2022–present: £15,000 – £19,000 — Newer models with the latest technology, lower mileage, and often still under manufacturer warranty.

Common Issues to Check

  • Clutch Wear: Due to its sporty nature, especially in manual models, inspect the clutch for signs of slipping or a heavy pedal.
  • Brake Condition: Check discs and pads for excessive wear or warping, as enthusiastic driving can accelerate wear.
  • Suspension Bushes: Listen for any knocking or creaking noises over bumps, which could indicate worn suspension components, particularly on older cars.
  • Tyre Wear: Examine tyres for uneven wear patterns, which might suggest alignment issues or hard driving.
  • Exhaust System: Check for corrosion or damage, especially to the catalytic converter or back box, as sportier exhausts can be prone to this.

Running Costs

  • Fuel Economy: 45-55 mpg (impressive for its performance due to lightweight design and efficient engines).
  • Insurance Group: 18-25 (manageable for a sporty compact, appealing to a broad range of drivers).
  • Servicing: Generally straightforward and affordable, with Suzuki parts being reasonably priced and a good network of independent and main dealers.

Which Variant Should I Choose?

  • GT Base: The fundamental sporty model, offering robust performance and essential features. This is ideal for purists seeking unadulterated driving enjoyment without unnecessary frills.
  • GT Sport: Features a firmer suspension setup, larger alloy wheels, and distinctive interior accents. This variant is perfectly suited for enthusiasts who prioritise dynamic handling and a more aggressive road presence.
  • GT-Line: Focuses more on aesthetic enhancements like unique body kits and premium interior trim materials. It blends sporty looks with a comfortable everyday driving experience.
  • GT-X: The top-tier variant, often including advanced technological features such as adaptive cruise control, a premium audio system, and unique styling elements. This offers a more refined and feature-rich driving experience.
