Description

The Neco NC50 is available now, with other models from the Neco range available to pre-order - browse the full line-up at https://neco.be/neco-benelux-en/ and just ask. Under the race-inspired bodywork is a genuinely unusual engine for the class - a 50cc four-stroke single with a double overhead cam, four-valve head that revs quickly and pulls hard for a moped, making 4.5 bhp at 10,000 rpm. Bosch electronic fuel injection means it starts on the button in all conditions and meets Euro 5, while the five-speed manual gearbox gives proper gears to learn on.

The chassis is bigger-bike stuff scaled down: inverted front forks, a rear monoshock and hydraulic disc brakes at both ends, riding on 17-inch aluminium rims with road tyres for real grip on tarmac. At 103kg dry with a 790mm seat height it's light and manageable for younger riders, and the 6-litre tank goes a long way on a four-stroke 50 - a sensible, cheap-to-run first bike that still looks the part. Supermoto styling in Nardo White and Yellow, LED daytime running lights and tail light, plus a digital dash complete the package, and it comes with a 2-year manufacturer's parts warranty as standard.

Free delivery within 99 miles of HX3 0UA - £99 delivery for customers 99-199 miles away, then an additional 99p per mile thereafter. New bikes subject to £82 on-the-road fee. || At Superbike Specialists, we offer a top selection of HPI-clear used motorcycles (unless stated). Our bikes are mechanically prepared by passionate onsite mechanics, with a focus on exceptional customer service.

Every bike includes a 30-day warranty, with options to extend to 6 or 12 months, a minimum of 6 months MOT, and a fresh service. UK mainland delivery starts at £50. Competitive finance and card payments are accepted.

We are also an authorised Scorpion Datatool dealer, offering fully fitted S5 Thatcham-approved trackers from £299. ||

About the Neco Nc-50

The Neco NC-50 is a popular entry-level 50cc moped, cherished in the UK for its affordability, ease of use, and economical running costs. It’s an ideal choice for new riders aged 16 and over with a CBT licence, as well as city dwellers looking for a simple, cheap, and nimble way to navigate urban environments. Known for its straightforward design and reliable 4-stroke engine, the NC-50 has earned a reputation as a no-nonsense commuter scooter that gets the job done without fuss.

Why Buy a Used Neco Nc-50?

  • Low Purchase Price: Used NC-50s are among the most affordable powered two-wheelers available, making them perfect for budget-conscious buyers or those new to motorcycling.
  • Exceptional Fuel Economy: Its small 50cc engine sips fuel, offering impressive mpg figures that significantly reduce daily running costs, especially for urban commutes.
  • Easy to Ride: With automatic transmission and a lightweight chassis, the NC-50 is incredibly user-friendly, making it an excellent first vehicle for learning to ride in traffic.
  • Inexpensive to Insure: As a 50cc moped, the NC-50 typically falls into the lowest insurance groups, resulting in very affordable premiums compared to larger motorcycles or cars.

Typical Price Range

All prices are approximate and subject to change based on condition, mileage, specification, and market conditions.

  • 2020–Present: £1,200 – £1,700 — These are often nearly new, ultra-low mileage examples, perfect for a reliable starter scooter with minimal wear.
  • 2017–2019: £1,000 – £1,300 — Well-maintained models offering good value for money for urban commuting, potentially with some minor cosmetic wear.
  • 2014–2016: £1,000 – £1,100 — Exceptionally well-preserved examples from this period can still offer solid reliability, though they may show more signs of age.

Common Issues to Check

  • General Wear and Accident Damage: Inspect fairings, handlebars, and footpegs for scrapes, cracks, or signs of having been dropped.
  • Electrical System: Check all lights (headlight, tail light, indicators), the horn, and ensure the electric starter works reliably. A weak battery can be a common issue.
  • Brake Condition: Test both front and rear brakes for effectiveness. Inspect brake pads/shoes and disc/drum for wear, and check cables for fraying.
  • Exhaust System Rust: The exhaust manifold and silencer are prone to rust, especially if the scooter is stored outdoors; check for any perforations or excessive corrosion.
  • Engine Starting and Running: Listen for unusual noises, check for smooth idling, and ensure it starts easily from cold using both electric and kick-start mechanisms.

Running Costs

  • Fuel Economy: Typically 100-120 mpg, making it extremely cheap to run for daily commuting.
  • Insurance Group: Group 1-2, placing it among the cheapest vehicles to insure in the UK.
  • Servicing: Basic servicing is straightforward and inexpensive, primarily involving oil changes, spark plug checks, and drive belt inspection every 1,500-3,000 miles.

Which Variant Should I Choose?

  • Standard NC-50: This is the core model, offering basic but reliable transport. It’s ideal for new riders or anyone needing a no-frills, affordable way to get around town.
  • NC-50 with Enhanced Storage: Many used models come fitted with a top box or have had under-seat storage upgrades, making them perfect for carrying a helmet, shopping, or work essentials.
  • Late-Model NC-50: For buyers prioritising the best possible condition and lowest mileage, a more recent example offers enhanced peace of mind and potentially fewer immediate maintenance concerns.
