Description
The bike specialists, trading standard award winners. Bike ID: #10436 We are very proud to offer the opportunity to own this rare beautiful example of the Honda VFR750. Our example is a 1 Owner UK registered model that are rarely seen up for sale in this condition.
The Honda RC45 is already a legend. But this one was built to full HRC NL5 specification and it's something else! This replication, professionally built by Dave Stephenson of Honda Britain in 1998, at a huge documented cost of around £47,000 was assembled using nothing but the finest new HRC NL5 components, sourced from Clive Padgett and directly through the World Superbike team based in Louth.
Built to full OM Senior / Formula 1 specification, the goal was simple: the ultimate balance of performance and reliability. This road-registered, race-spec RC45 takes that philosophy even further. The bike has a suberb history in both ownership and service history that is fully documented along with a full breakdown of work carried out (too in depth to list everything) within the bikes massive file of receipts and information (one of the most comprehensive historys we have seen).
Originally bought brand new by boxer Chris Eubank whose name appears in the original service book and V5, he then sold the bike in 1997 and that owner was the man behind the £47,000 upgrade to turn it into the creation we see before us. The next owner bought the bike 300 miles after the conversion and in 2006 it was placed in a air conditioned storage unit and serviced regularly before being fully recommissioned in 2023. The man behind this stunning example, Dave Stephenson worked for Honda Britain in the 80's and 90's and during that time developed, built and maintained the all conquering IOM and NW200 RC45's for Steve Hislop, Joey Dunlop and Phil McCallen.
Winning every IOM senior, Formula 1 and NW200 from 1994 to 1998. We are a family-owned company that prides itself on the quality of our Motorcycles and all of them are carefully chosen, handpicked enthusiast pre-owned examples that are always HPI Clear for your peace of mind. We offer all the usual used Motorcycle Dealer facilities such as Low-rate finance and extended warranties and operate a no-pressure environment where you can relax and enjoy good old-fashioned service with a smile.
We have just upgraded our Indoor Showroom where you can see Motorcycles you sometimes can only dream of seeing and sometimes, we have to pinch ourselves when we get certain bikes in as we would like to keep them all! We cater for very specialist tastes and can usually source rare and coveted bikes that we do not have in stock and have lots of contacts throughout the world.

Typical Price Range
All prices are approximate and subject to change based on condition, mileage, specification, and market conditions.
- 1994–1995 (Higher mileage/restored): £25,000 – £35,000 — These examples might have higher mileage or show signs of previous restoration work, offering a more accessible entry point into ownership.
- 1994–1995 (Good condition/moderate mileage): £35,000 – £45,000 — Well-preserved bikes with documented history and fewer imperfections, representing a solid acquisition for enthusiasts.

Common Issues to Check
- Original Fairing Condition: Inspect all plastic panels for cracks, repairs, or non-original paintwork, as genuine replacements are extremely rare and costly.
- Cam Gear Whine: A characteristic sound from the gear-driven cams; ensure it's not excessive and that regular valve clearance checks have been performed.
- Electrical System Age: Check for common age-related issues with wiring, connectors, and particularly the charging system (regulator/rectifier, alternator).
- Suspension and Brakes: Verify the condition of fork seals, rear shock absorber, and brake components, as seized calipers or perished seals are common on older, stored bikes.
- Service History and Originality: Crucial for a collectible bike; demand comprehensive service records and ensure the bike retains as many of its original components as possible.
Running Costs
- Fuel Economy: 30 – 40 mpg (depending on riding style and tuning).
- Insurance Group: 17+ (Typically requires specialist classic or high-performance motorcycle insurance).
- Servicing: High due to the specialist nature of the V4 engine, rarity of specific parts, and the need for experienced technicians familiar with these exotic machines.
Which Variant Should I Choose?
- Original, Unmodified Example: Ideal for collectors and investors, these bikes retain their factory-spec parts and finishes, commanding the highest value and authenticity.
- Well-Maintained Rider's Bike: For those who want to experience the RC45's performance on the road or track, a bike with sensible upgrades (e.g., modern suspension internals, brake lines) and a good service history can be an excellent option.
- Professionally Restored Example: A meticulously restored RC45 can be a fantastic acquisition, but ensure all work is thoroughly documented, uses genuine parts where possible, and accurately reflects the bike's original specification.
