Description

Part exchange welcome/free home delivery 25 miles, full mot, 3 former keepers, nissan service history (x9 recorded services), supplied with its original owners manual/service booklet, locking wheel nut key, two keys and a clear hpi report. Welcome, I am delighted to offer this genuine 3 Former keeper Nissan Almera 1.5 SX 5dr hatch finished in blue. The car was part exchanged with myself against a newer Land Rover Freelander and has been HPi Checked with a clear report.

The car was originally supplied by Williams Bridge Nissan on the 19/04/2006 and has been originally serviced by this dealership, it has been well serviced throughout its life with 9 service entries. Its mileage is verified by the National mileage register and its VOSA MOT history along with its service documentation. The car drives beautifully with everything in working order with the engine, clutch (no clutch slipping or juddering) and transmission all smooth and responsive as you would expect of a well cared for low owner example.

Cosmetically the car is in very good condition being a testament to its former keeper (please refer to the panel by panel photos/video). Underneath the conservative-looking body of the second-generation Almera is a well-built package that’s good to drive with precise handling, good fuel economy and a comfortable interior. It’s competitively priced and well equipped (Quote Parkers).

Nissan are famed for their excellent typical Japanese build quality and mechanical reliability and are considered one of the best Japanese manufacturers globally. The Almera is £275 road tax because of its low emissions. The engine (which is driven by a timing chain rather than a belt) delivers 89 BHP and can return up to 51.4 MPG.

About the Nissan Almera

The Nissan Almera, produced between 1995 and 2006 for the UK market, was a compact family car available as a hatchback or saloon. Known primarily for its unwavering reliability, practicality, and no-frills approach, the Almera carved a niche for itself as a dependable and economical workhorse. It particularly appeals to budget-conscious buyers, first-time drivers, or anyone simply needing a robust and straightforward mode of transport, gaining a reputation as a sensible, if unexciting, choice in the UK used car market.

Why Buy a Used Nissan Almera?

  • Exceptional Reliability: The Almera's reputation for mechanical sturdiness means many examples still run well today, making it a low-risk used purchase.
  • Affordable Purchase Price: Due to its age and segment, a used Almera offers significant value for money, ideal for those on a tight budget.
  • Low Running Costs: With modest fuel consumption, low insurance groupings, and readily available, inexpensive parts, the Almera is cheap to keep on the road.
  • Practical & Unpretentious: Offering decent interior space and a practical boot, it serves effectively as basic family transport without any unnecessary complexities.

Typical Price Range

All prices are approximate and subject to change based on condition, mileage, specification, and market conditions.

  • 2000–2002: £800 – £1,500 — At this price, you're looking at early second-generation models, often with higher mileage but still capable of providing reliable transport.
  • 2003–2004: £1,200 – £2,000 — These mid-range models are likely to be in better overall condition with potentially lower mileage, offering a good balance of value and longevity.
  • 2005–2006: £1,500 – £2,500 — The newest Almeras will command the highest prices, typically representing the best-maintained examples with the most life left in them.

Common Issues to Check

  • Rust: Inspect wheel arches, sills, and subframe components thoroughly, as rust can be prevalent on older examples, especially those not well-maintained.
  • Exhaust System: The exhaust can be prone to rust and wear, so listen for rattles or blowing and check for corrosion.
  • Suspension Components: Bushes and shock absorbers can wear with age and mileage, leading to knocking noises or a less composed ride; check for MOT advisories.
  • Electrical Gremlins: Minor issues such as faulty central locking, electric window switches, or temperamental dashboard lights can occur.
  • Cloudy Headlights: The plastic headlight lenses can become cloudy over time, affecting light output and potentially failing an MOT, though they can often be restored.

Running Costs

  • Fuel Economy: 35–45 mpg (petrol 1.5L/1.8L), 45-55 mpg (diesel 2.2L)
  • Insurance Group: 5–10
  • Servicing: Straightforward and inexpensive, with widely available parts, making routine maintenance very affordable at most independent garages.

Which Variant Should I Choose?

  • 1.5 S / E (Hatchback/Saloon): Ideal for first-time drivers or those seeking the absolute lowest running costs, offering basic equipment and adequate performance.
  • 1.8 SE / SVE (Hatchback/Saloon): Provides a bit more power and a more comfortable driving experience, often with air conditioning, alloy wheels, and a few more creature comforts.
  • 2.2 Di / dCi (Diesel Hatchback/Saloon): For drivers covering more miles, the diesel engine offers improved fuel economy and greater torque, though they are less common than petrol models.
  • Sport / SX (Hatchback): These variants offered a slightly sportier appearance with different bumpers and trim, appealing to those who wanted a bit more visual flair without impacting running costs significantly.
