Description

PART EXCHANGE TO CLEAR | NO WARRANTY APPLIES A rare opportunity to own this mighty 2.7 V6 Hyundai Coupe, presented in immaculate condition for its age and mileage. The previous owner cherished the vehicle for 17 years, which is a testament to how well it has been looked after. Recently been fitting from 4 new tyres, a new clutch, and a new battery, this Coupe is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.

The interior is in excellent condition and has been very well maintained. As expected for a vehicle of this age, there are a few minor rust spots on the bodywork, but overall it presents very well. The only known fault is that the driver's side indicator remains illuminated.

A fantastic value for money V6 coupe with plenty of character grab yourself a bargain! V5 Present 2 Previous Owners MOT - 13/11/2026

About the Hyundai Coupe

The Hyundai Coupe, also known as the Tiburon in some markets, is a distinctive and affordable sports coupe that brought a touch of flair to UK roads. Revered for its striking design and accessible price point, it became a popular choice for those seeking a sporty-looking car without breaking the bank. While not renowned for blistering performance, the Coupe offers an engaging drive and a unique aesthetic, appealing to younger drivers, enthusiasts on a budget, and anyone wanting to stand out from the crowd. Its general reputation in the UK market is one of a reliable and good-value option in the used coupe segment.

Why Buy a Used Hyundai Coupe?

  • Affordable Style: The Coupe offers a sleek, sporty design that still turns heads, all for a fraction of the cost of its European rivals.
  • Engaging Drive: Despite its budget-friendly nature, the Hyundai Coupe provides a surprisingly fun and connected driving experience, especially with the 2.0-litre and V6 engines.
  • Reliability: Hyundai's reputation for building robust and dependable vehicles extends to the Coupe, with many examples proving long-lasting with proper maintenance.
  • Practicality for a Coupe: While clearly a two-door sports car, the Coupe often features a surprisingly usable boot and rear seats, making it more versatile than some competitors.

Typical Price Range

All prices are approximate and subject to change based on condition, mileage, specification, and market conditions.

  • 2007–2009 (SIII/Facelift): £1,500 – £3,500 — These later models offer the most refined styling and often better-preserved interiors, representing excellent value for a modern-looking coupe.
  • 22004–2006 (Third Generation): £1,000 – £2,500 — A good sweet spot for buyers looking for a solid example of the popular third-generation Coupe, often with the 2.0-litre engine.
  • 2000–2003 (Second Generation): £500 – £1,500 — These earlier examples are typically entry-level options, ideal for project cars or those on a very tight budget, though condition can vary significantly.

Common Issues to Check

  • Rust: Pay close attention to wheel arches, sills, and subframes, especially on older models, as rust can be a common issue.
  • Suspension Components: Worn bushes, anti-roll bar links, and shock absorbers can lead to knocking noises or a less composed ride due to age and road conditions.
  • Electrical Gremlins: Check all electrics thoroughly, including windows, central locking, and dashboard warning lights, as minor faults can sometimes occur.
  • Clutch Wear: Especially on the 2.7 V6 models or those driven enthusiastically, check the clutch for signs of slipping or a heavy pedal, indicating wear.
  • Exhaust System: The exhaust can be prone to rust, so listen for any blowing or rattling noises, and visually inspect it for corrosion.

Running Costs

  • Fuel Economy: Varies significantly by engine: 1.6L (approx. 35-40 mpg), 2.0L (approx. 30-35 mpg), 2.7 V6 (approx. 25-30 mpg).
  • Insurance Group: Typically ranges from Group 18 (for 1.6L) to Group 25 (for 2.7 V6) for a 2.0L model, meaning it’s relatively affordable for a sports coupe.
  • Servicing: Generally straightforward and inexpensive, with parts readily available from main dealers or independent specialists.

Which Variant Should I Choose?

  • 1.6L SE: Ideal for first-time buyers or those prioritising fuel economy and lower insurance costs, offering the Coupe's distinctive style with sensible running costs.
  • 2.0L SE/SIII: This is arguably the best balance of performance, affordability, and running costs. It provides a more engaging drive without the higher fuel bills of the V6.
  • 2.7L V6 SIII: For enthusiasts seeking the most power and a more substantial exhaust note, the V6 is the flagship model, offering a smoother and more potent driving experience.
