Description
2013 Yamaha WR450F 450cc Road Legal Enduro Selling my personal bike after realising that I am no longer cut out for enduro riding. I bought the bike a couple of months ago off a gentleman that had owned it for many years but he too did not ride it much. I had high hopes for riding a few green lanes over the winter after selling my road bike but after a few rides out, soon realised that this is no longer for me.
I searched for quite some time to find this bike and it popped up fairly locally so bought it without hesitation. Everything stacks up as it should and it runs sweet as you would expect. There is plenty of paperwork including owners manual, original purchase paperwork, MOT's, service book etc.
There is a receipt for some service parts and we will also service it before it goes out (I own a garage). MOT until August 2027 which was put on by the previous owner. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
About the YAMAHA WR450F

A close cousin to Yamaha's championship-winning YZ-F motocross bikes, the WR450F is tuned for trail and enduro riding, offering a broader powerband, more forgiving suspension, and often comes with or is easily converted to road-legal specification in the UK. It appeals to a wide range of riders, from serious enduro competitors to keen green laners and trail riders who demand a potent, dependable machine.

Typical Price Range
All prices are approximate and subject to change based on condition, mileage, specification, and market conditions.
- 2010–2014: £3,500 – £5,000 — These earlier fuel-injected models offer robust performance and great value for riders looking for a capable enduro on a budget.
- 2015–2018: £5,000 – £7,000 — More refined generations with improved chassis and suspension, often found with comprehensive road-legal setups already in place.
- 2019–2022: £7,000 – £9,500 — The latest generations feature significant updates, including YZ-F derived frames and engines, offering cutting-edge performance and technology.
Common Issues to Check
- Suspension Wear: Look for weeping fork seals, play in the swingarm or linkage bearings, and general signs of heavy use, as these bikes lead a hard life.
- Engine Hour Meter: Verify the hour meter's operation and check if it appears genuine, as some may be disconnected or replaced, masking actual engine usage.
- Clutch Condition: Test for clutch slip or dragging, indicating worn plates or a tired clutch basket, especially if the bike has seen a lot of hard enduro riding.
- Valve Clearances: Ask for service history regarding valve checks; tight or loose valves can indicate impending top-end rebuilds if neglected.
- Road Legal Kit Integrity: If buying a road-legal example, check the functionality of all lights, indicators, horn, and the overall wiring integrity, as these are often aftermarket additions.
Running Costs
- Fuel Economy: 30–50 mpg (highly dependent on riding style and terrain, but generally good for a performance 450cc).
- Insurance Group: 14–16 (motorcycle groups, reflects the high performance and off-road nature, so premiums can be significant for younger riders).
- Servicing: Requires frequent oil and filter changes (every 10-20 hours of riding), regular air filter cleaning, and periodic valve clearance checks, which can be costly if done by a specialist.
Which Variant Should I Choose?
- 2007–2011 (Carburetted/Early EFI): Ideal for budget-conscious riders or those who prefer simpler mechanics. These are highly robust but may feel a little less refined than newer models.
- 2012–2018 (Fuel Injected): A popular choice for a balance of modern performance, reliability, and value. Many in this range will already have quality road-legal conversions.
- 2019–Present (Latest Generation): For serious riders or those wanting the ultimate in performance and technology. These models benefit from the latest YZ-F chassis and engine developments, offering razor-sharp handling and powerful, tractable delivery.
- Supermoto Conversions: Some WR450Fs are converted with 17-inch wheels and road tyres. These offer exhilarating road performance but confirm the original enduro wheels are included if you plan to go off-road.
